Frank Schwab is the Chief of Spine service at the Hospital for Special Surgery and a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr Schwab served as the Chief of Spinal Deformity at New York University Langone Medical Center-Hospital for Joint Diseases for over 8 years. His clinical practice focuses on complex spinal pathology, adult spinal deformity and revision reconstruction procedures. He is widely recognized as a leader in the field and has pioneered many aspects of spinal deformity care, especially for patients with extensive surgical histories. Dr. Schwab is focused on innovating patient-specific operative treatment, optimizing sagittal realignment guidelines, emphasizing the use of pre-operative planning technologies and techniques for complex spine surgery. In concert with patient care, he developed the first definitive classification of adult spinal deformity that has become a clinical standard for spinal surgeons worldwide. Dr. Schwab obtained his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, which was followed by a National Science Foundation post-doctoral research fellowship in Paris, France. He continued as a resident in orthopaedic surgery at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, which was followed by advanced spine fellowship training under the direction of Dr. Jean-Pierre Farcy. He is a Board Member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), winning multiple awards for spine deformity research and serving on several key committees. Dr. Schwab is also a leader and Board Member of the International Spine Study Group (ISSG) and active within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and North American Spine Society (NASS).

 

Debra M Jacobs, RN, FNP-C

Debra Jacobs
Debra completed her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island. She has previously practiced as an RN in pediatrics and geriatrics. Along with Dr. Schwab, Debra carries out independent evaluations of patients with spinal problems, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. For surgical patients, Debra serves as a true patient advocate, educating the patient with regards to preparing for surgery and providing continued support throughout the post-operative period. Debra has plans to further her education in obtaining a Doctor of Nursing Practice.



Natalia Meszaros-Gonzalez – Office Manager

Natalia Meszaros-Gonzalez
Natalia Meszaros-Gonzalez is Dr. Frank J. Schwab’s office manager for the past 8 years. She helps to address patient’s questions regarding the administrative side of spinal surgery which includes obtaining prior authorization for surgeries, booking and coordinating patient’s pre-surgical appointments. She is fluent in Romanian, Hungarian and Spanish.



Dorota Mejer – Office Manager

Dorota Mejer
Dorota Mejer is Dr. Frank J Schwab’s office manager for the past 7 years. She is responsible for overseeing the daily responsibilities of a quickly expanding practice which includes scheduling patient’s appointments, obtaining authorizations from insurance companies and coordinating patient’s charts and images. She is fluent in Polish.



Bojana Vidakovic – Administrative Assistant

Bojana Vidakovic
Bojana has been with Dr. Schwab's office for a year. She manages Dr. Schwab's calendar and coordinates academic engagements.
